By hazard and severity
Severity is the level the issuing agency or feed gave each event.

The most serious events
Ranked by severity, then magnitude. At most 2 from one hazard in one country, so one storm warned region by region does not fill the list.
Countries with the most recorded events
A count of events, not of harm: a country with a dense warning network records more than one without.
| Country | Events |
|---|---|
| United States | 2,030 |
| India | 1,312 |
| Kazakhstan | 1,005 |
| China | 540 |
| Saudi Arabia | 479 |
| Spain | 466 |
| Algeria | 281 |
| Argentina | 193 |
| Mexico | 191 |
| Switzerland | 162 |

Earthquakes by magnitude
Earthquakes this site recorded. Very small ones are not collected, so the lowest band is not a full count.
| Magnitude | Earthquakes |
|---|---|
| 7.0 and above | 0 |
| 6.0 to 6.9 | 9 |
| 5.0 to 5.9 | 170 |

Compared with other months
Per day, because a month in progress or a first month is shorter than a full one. Counts also move when this site adds or loses a feed, not only when the world changes.

What is counted
Events this site stored from official feeds whose event time falls in 1–30 September 2026 (UTC). Not counted: NASA FIRMS satellite fire detections (grid cells, not named fires), US National Weather Service county warnings, tornado and marine warnings, and national weather warnings below "severe". Those are hundreds a day and would measure how busy each agency is rather than what happened. The daily reports count every stored record, so their totals are larger.
Recorded is not the same as happened. A flood in a country with no public alerting may not appear at all, and one storm can arrive as several records. These are events, not casualties. Full method on methodology.
