Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Summary: we set a small number of strictly necessary cookies to run the site. We also use Google Analyticscookies, and those are only set after you agree. You are asked once, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful — for example whether visitors arriving on a country page go on to read the safety guide. This is the only way we can tell whether the site is doing its job. It measures pages and visits, not people.

What it does not do. It does not record your name, your email address or your exact location. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses at all — they are discarded at collection and cannot be turned back on. We do not use it for advertising audiences, and we do not upload any subscriber data to it.

Consent. The analytics cookies below are set only after you choose "Accept all". If you choose "Essential only", or ignore the banner in a country where prior consent is required by law — the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — no analytics cookie is set at all. This is implemented with Google Consent Mode.

_ga_<id>GoogleKeeps the current visit together as one session2 years

Google acts as our data processor for this. Their own description of how the data is used is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out across every site using Google's browser add-on.

Controlling cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the session cookie may prevent form submissions (contact, subscription) from working. Clearing this site's data also clears your saved consent choice, so the banner will ask again.
