...RISK FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH AND EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR WITH ANY
NEW FIRE STARTS TODAY, DUE TO GUSTY SANTA ANA WINDS WITH VERY WARM
AND DRY CONDITIONS...

Offshore winds are not as strong or widespread as the past couple
of days, but will still create a risk for new fires to have rapid
growth in wind prone areas of LA/Ventura counties due to the very
warm and dry conditions. By this afternoon, offshore winds may
weaken sufficiently to allow some Red Flag Warning areas to be
cancelled early.

* AFFECTED AREA...Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational
Area, Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Santa
Susana Mountains, Southern Ventura County Mountains, Northern
Ventura County Mountains, Interstate 5 Corridor, Western San

* TIMING...Until 8 PM PDT this evening.

* WINDS...Northeast to east 29 to 30 mph with gusts 35 to 45 mph,
gradually diminishing in the afternoon.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimums of 10 to 25 percent common.

* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable

Internet connectivity at the time

Internet connectivity in United States dropped 8 hours after this event, and stayed disrupted for about 1 hour.

From 18 Oct 2026 00:00 UTC to 18 Oct 2026 01:00 UTC. Detected by active probing — networks that stopped answering.

Internet outages have many causes — damaged cables, power failures, network maintenance and deliberate shutdowns among them. IODA detects the loss of connectivity and does not attribute it to anything. This is shown because it happened at the same time, not because one caused the other.

Measured by IODA, Georgia Institute of Technology.
