...RISK FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH AND EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES
WITH ANY NEW FIRE STARTS TODAY, ESPECIALLY IN TARGETED RED FLAG
WARNING AREAS...
Offshore winds are not as strong or widespread as the past couple
of days, but will still create a risk for new fires to have rapid
growth in wind prone areas of LA/Ventura counties, as very warm
and dry conditions persist. While many areas have been cancelled
in the Red Flag Warning area, a few targeted Red Flag Warnings
persist where offshore winds are expected to remain strongest
through this afternoon.
* AFFECTED AREA...Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Susana Mountains
and Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor.
* TIMING...Until 6 PM PDT this evening.
* WINDS...Northeast to east 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 40
mph, gradually diminishing later this afternoon into evening.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimums of 10 to 20 percent common.
* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable
for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and
property.

Internet connectivity at the time
Internet connectivity in United States dropped 3 hours after this event, and stayed disrupted for about 1 hour.
From 18 Oct 2026 00:00 UTC to 18 Oct 2026 01:00 UTC. Detected by active probing — networks that stopped answering.
Internet outages have many causes — damaged cables, power failures, network maintenance and deliberate shutdowns among them. IODA detects the loss of connectivity and does not attribute it to anything. This is shown because it happened at the same time, not because one caused the other.
Measured by IODA, Georgia Institute of Technology.
