On 13 July 2026, at approximately 19:30 local time, intense short-duration rainfall over the mountainous catchment areas of Nooken district triggered mudflows along two separate channels. The Besh-Korgon channel overflowed and inundated the lower streets of Kochkor-Ata city, destroying 3 electricity poles in the Besh-Korgon settlement. Simultaneously, the Kara-Bulak channel overflowed into Ergesh Aliev village, while separate mudflows descending from higher elevations submerged the villages of Kurulush, Boston, and Kop- Tam in the Mombekov village area. The event occurred in Nooken district, Jalal-Abad oblast, Kyrgyzstan, affecting Kochkor-Ata city and the villages of Ergesh Aliev, Kurulush, Boston, and Kop-Tam.
The mudflows struck the evening of 13 July 2026 (19:30 local time). District civil protection authorities were mobilized the same evening, and clearance and mud-pumping operations were still ongoing as of 02:00 on 14 July 2026. A state of emergency has been declared in the district, and the situation is being monitored by RCSK in coordination with local civil protection authorities.
